MindBody Centering Yoga can mean many things,and here it means the application of biomechanics to Yoga. Basically, the science of warming the tissues of the body in order to facilitate expanding range of motion with awareness...flow & stretch. We use the word SUPER to describe the end goal as reaching our ultimate potential!
The idea that if you stretch more and stretch harder you will get more flexible ... is only damaging tissue. Lack of range of motion is not really about lengthening. It’s much more an issue of tolerance. When one hits the end of ones 'familiar' range of motion, the nervous system is what is limiting that range into; unfamiliar' territory. Approaching this 'limit' with other than ease and a friendly attitude, only creates tension and injury.
